ABSTRACT

In India, the preferred means of transportation is by road. Global warming and pollution are the results of driving on conventional fuels; different vehicles we use today produce toxic gases and dust and lead to global warming. The pragmatic solution is e-transportation, which is the need of the hour. Today’s youth are the future drivers, and their acceptance of e-transportation mechanisms and public transportation will reflect the future of the nation and the level of sustainability it will achieve in the years to come. The study assesses the sustainability of transportation routes, including the environmental impact of public transportation, and evaluates the potential of e-transportation as a more sustainable alternative. It draws on a sample of youth populations in Bhopal, analysing their transportation habits, attitudes, and behaviours. The research further shows the interest of youth populations as an alternative and the possible economic and infrastructural challenges in achieving the same. The highlight of the study is the importance of understanding the transportation needs and preferences of youth populations in shaping transportation policy and promoting sustainable urban development.
