ABSTRACT
Transportation is an essential component of modern society, enabling people and goods to move around. However, transportation has significant social, economic, and environmental impacts, which pose challenges for the sustainable development of transportation systems. Overall, this chapter aims to explore the various social, economic, and environmental issues associated with sustainable transportation. By addressing these issues, transportation planners and policymakers can design transportation systems that are efficient, equitable, and environmentally sustainable.
