ABSTRACT

Adipose-derived stem cells (ASC), a class of adult mesenchymal stem cells, hold great promise for biomedical sciences – both for basic science research and for clinical application. As surgically discarded tissue from a multitude of elective procedure, which frequently involves young otherwise healthy patients, adipose tissue is a valuable, easy to obtain source from which these stem cells can be obtained. This technique describes a method for isolating and expanding human ASCs from solid fat or from lipoaspirate.
