ABSTRACT
Three separate projects, the Jeevika World Bank Project, Mission 2020: Lakhpati Kisan – Smart Villages Project, and Seed Potato Traceability Project, were launched across various states of India where technology was introduced in farming methods to increase livelihoods, issue farm advisories, counter climate change, uphold the lives of tribal households, and improve seed quality.
Farm data is captured at critical points to establish end-to-end traceability to the life cycle of crops, starting from pre-harvest until final harvest. Raw data is processed, and farmers are provided with data insights, including weather alerts, pest forecasts, management practices, monitoring production and harvest, and adhering to export compliance. Using the technology, 80% of farm households implemented the advisories issued, 92% demonstrated climate-resilient agricultural practices, and 90% declared satisfaction with the satellite-based advisory.
