ABSTRACT

As business processes have evolved, human resources management has emphasized the concept that positions the human element at the centre of the organization in a modern management style (Guest, 1992). The majority of human resource activities necessitate people-related data for an improved understanding of employee competency, contingencies and organizational performance. It has been shown that when companies use digital, game-based human resources systems, they obtain more data in less time than when they use traditional human resources programmes.

Gamification is a strategy for empowering and motivating employees through the acceptance and use of learning management tools, facilitating employee retention, improving knowledge-sharing prospects, identifying the strongest incentive, highlighting employee preferences, elevating workplace connections, enhancing employee productivity and aiding in the transformation to an agile organization. Gamification can assist both employees and businesses in enhancing their human resource processes. Due to the paucity of research on gamification in the context of human resource management, this study investigates and proposes a conceptual framework of gamification’s elements from the perspective of HR practices and their impact on organizations. Utilizing Tranfield et al. (2003) and Crossan and Apaydin (2010) criteria, a systematic literature review was conducted. A thorough examination 210of the literature contributes to critically assessing, summarizing and mapping the available studies by identifying the significant themes.

Although the amount of literature on gamification has gone up significantly, there is currently no review of the present landscape of HRM-related gamification literature. This study provides a literature review to support and simplify the knowledge of previous research. By evaluating research publications, this study highlights the contribution of gamification in HRM. According to the studies, gamification in human resource practices has a tremendously favourable effect. Gamification in digital media for human resource management helps firms to improve a variety of HR tasks, including Recruitment & Selection, Training & Development, and many more, at a lower cost than traditional approaches.
