ABSTRACT

In any organization, human resources contribute in a big way to building a competitive advantage across industries. It has been a challenging situation for human resource management (HRM) in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study seeks to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the role of HR in the post-COVID era that we are living in today, often called ‘World 2.0’. The pandemic has led to a lot of undue stress for individuals as well as organizations. While everyone has found their own way to cope with these pressures, some individuals have gone through serious stress and burnout. The present study examines the new factors of World 2.0 and the impact they have both externally and internally on individuals and organizations. As a result of the pandemic, managers have been confronted with the ripple effects, as employees re-evaluate their careers and leave their jobs in record numbers. Additionally, the study provides insight into the phenomenon of ‘The Great Resignation’ and analyses the factors that could predict it. This chapter aims to explore the possibilities presented today by the pandemic and the reasons for ‘The Great Resignation’. Additionally, it explains how HR can navigate this new era with an innovative approach to creating an inclusive work environment.

A systematic review of the literature is being conducted in this study. The data is gathered by using a variety of secondary sources, including past 38research and journal articles and electronic databases such as PubMed, Web of Science and Scopus using the keywords human management, COVID-19, New World 2.0, The Great Resignation, etc.

This study examines HRM initiatives concerning job changes, working routines, workplaces and remote working conditions. The study explores numerous factors of World 2.0, which primarily focuses on employee well-being and resilience, change management, and the pandemic’s overall impact on individuals and organizations. This study has analysed in detail the impact caused by the pandemic on individuals and organizations, investigating the phenomenon of ‘The Great Resignation’, and the new era of HR in World 2.0.
