ABSTRACT

The objective of this chapter is to elucidate and demonstrate the design of a ground robot with intelligence capable of performing semi-solitary farm operations for various low-height crops, referred to as an Agriculture Application Robot (AAR). An AAR is a lightweight, electric robot powered by solar energy that uses intelligent perception to detect and classify plants and their corresponding attributes. Typical applications of AAR include polyhouses, indoor farming, etc. The robot, with the help of a sprinkler mechanism, proficiently dispenses fertilizers or insecticides to the crops precisely. Additionally, the system has a robotic arm to facilitate autonomous weed-cutting procedures. Furthermore, we showcase practical algorithms to develop applications like yield prediction, crop health monitoring, and disease identification. We present both the robot's design and the conducted experiments, which yield encouraging outcomes within authentic field conditions.
