ABSTRACT

Geographic information systems (GIS) and artificial intelligence (AI) have been significantly integrated during the past ten years. Artificial intelligence offers novel approaches for GIS projects, despite the fact that a GIS is a stable platform with vast amounts of data and several diverse AI applications. AI-GIS is a collection of various AI and GIS-enabled technologies that combines AI with various GIS methods, like spatial data analysis algorithms (GeoAI). In recent years, geosciences research and application has increasingly centered on AI-GIS. The forthcoming stage of progress in GIS technology may be improved and sustained by employing AI-GIS to address the current intelligence challenge of GIS systems. AI-GIS became the initial tool for realizing computer-assisted geographic data collection via satellite images and videos. More empowerment is also possible with the development of AI technologies like speech synthesis and voice recognition. Nowadays the majority of scientific investigations in the geographic framework have demonstrated that geographical technologies and their software primarily aid in solving such problems as well as organizing and analyzing those resources for the purpose of enhancing decision-making and processing to address numerous issues associated with development, the recruitment and maintenance of resources, and managing of the environment and society in order to reach more precise and favorable “computer-aided.” The main contribution of this chapter is to make investments in and consumption of geographic information management easier. Furthermore, this strategy aims to improve interaction across analytical groups and knowledge providers, allowing integration of situational awareness in order to deal with emergencies and enhancing data sharing between them.
