ABSTRACT

The calibration of glassware is important in the various chemical, biological, microbiological, and pharmaceutical industries. The accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility of the result of any analysis are also dependent upon the accuracy and calibration of the glassware used in the analysis. Glassware is divided into two categories, i.e., type A and type B, depending upon the accuracy of calibration and tolerance values. This chapter describes the methods used to calibrate various volumetric glasswares (pipette, burette, volumetric flask, measuring cylinder), butyrometer, thermometer, and hydrometer.
