ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to provide an in-depth investigation of the current research landscape pertaining to the utilization of biosensors in embedded wearable devices. This study offers insights into publication trends, authorship patterns, citation networks, collaboration networks, and emerging research themes through a systematic search of major scientific databases and the utilization of specialized software for data extraction. The findings suggest a notable increase in the number of publications pertaining to the utilization of biosensors in embedded wearable devices, which signifies a growing fascination with this particular area of study. In addition, this study aims to identify the prominent countries, institutions, and authors that have made significant contributions to the research field. On one hand, this analysis will provide insights into the collaborative networks and knowledge hubs that have emerged as a result of these contributions. On the other hand, the analysis of keyword co-occurrence sheds light on prevailing research themes, including but not limited to biosensor integration techniques, signal processing algorithms, data analytics, power management, and wireless communication protocols. The analysis also reveals emerging subjects, such as flexible and stretchable biosensors, wearable robotics, and biosensors enabled by the Internet of Things (IoT). The aforementioned findings provide a valuable framework for future research endeavors, offering guidance to scholars and professionals in their exploration of innovative applications, enhancement of sensor integration techniques, and resolution of challenges pertaining to embedded wearable devices. This study enhances the current knowledge base and promotes the comprehension and progress of biosensor applications in embedded wearable devices through the synthesis and analysis of collective research.
