ABSTRACT

India is responsible for one-fifth of all live births and more than a quarter of all neonatal deaths worldwide. NMR (Neonatal Mortality Rate) is currently 28 per 1000 live births in India. According to estimates, 15 million babies are born prematurely each year, which represents more than one in every ten births globally. Preterm birth rates are generally growing in countries having access to enough data. Preterm birth is now the second biggest cause of death for children under the age of five worldwide, according to the “Born Too Soon” global action report on the issue. RDS continues to be the main cause of morbidity and mortality in preterm newborns, despite the fact that treatment alternatives such prenatal corticosteroids, Surfactants, and better neonatal respiratory care have improved outcomes for individuals with RDS.
