ABSTRACT

This is a reflection on three chapters about work design: the ideas presented by Pazell about a chief work design strategist, better design with cognitive work analysis in the emergency room setting presented by Austin, and the Chari’s and Miller’s concepts on design partnerships in healthcare. The reflections are made by an experienced senior national health and safety leader and past state regulator. The concepts sit well yet are seen to require highly adept and innovative thinking among organisational leaders.
