ABSTRACT

Waveforms, constructed on the base of m-Sequences, have good perspectives for being used in continuous wave radar of new generation. However, the side-lobe level of their ambiguity function does not always satisfy the requirements for separation of target vessels from other reflective objects. Therefore, along with m-Sequences it is necessary to consider other classes of waveforms with discrete modulation having the better properties of side-lobes suppression. In this paper has presented the basis of a continuous waveform with discrete modulation and filter design capable of achieving range side-lobe levels of better than in the case of m-Sequences with additional ability of clutter rejection for a given area on the Doppler-range plan, suitable for use in marine radar. Possibilities of such kind of joint waveform and filter design have been investigated.
