ABSTRACT

The article presents a method of ship’s route planning and route optimization to be used for passage planning and monitoring, including plan changes resulting from unpredictable developments like newly charted dangers. A method of space discretization for seeking a safe and optimal track using the method of trapezoidal mesh is presented. The authors have implemented a model of hydrographic ship domain, crucial in the process of maintaining a safe distance from the safety contour, navigational dangers and special areas. The model takes into account basic technical parameters of the ship, such as size and speed, and is capable of incorporating other factors. The article also discusses the method used to implement algorithms. A research experiment was conducted to verify the method. The final results and an example of method application are presented along with future directions of research work.
