ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews the current state of formalized cardio-oncology training. While there continues to be a lack of sufficient training in the field of cardio-oncology as part of the general cardiology and oncology fellowship curricula, there has been an increasing number of dedicated cardio-oncology fellowships developed over the last several years. Despite this, there remains significant variability in these programs owing to a lack of formalized training standards and educational requirements. We review the current state of cardio-oncology training and provide guidance for the development of minimum training standards. We also discuss barriers for effective implementation of these recommendations and methods to overcome these challenges.
