ABSTRACT

Cardio-oncology is a new medical subspecialty with many areas of clinical research relating to detection and prevention of cardiovascular toxicity caused by cancer treatments, prognosis for patients receiving treatments, particularly in the survivor populations, and systems for service delivery. In this chapter, we focus on three main areas of clinical research and the future directions: biomarkers for detection and prognosis, cardiac imaging to detect myocardial toxicity, and the epidemiology and service delivery for cancer survivor populations.
