ABSTRACT

Fibroepithelioma of Pinkus (FeP) is a rare variant of basal cell carcinoma. FeP is more frequently seen in females after the fourth decade of life and is most commonly located on the lumbosacral region. At a clinical examination, it usually appears as a solitary pink, flesh-colored or slightly brown-gray, dome-shaped papule or plaque; pedunculated, polypoid or ulcerated cases have also been described. Its prompt surgical removal is recommended and is curative.

The dermoscopic features of FeP are fine, focused, short arborizing and dotted vessels on a homogeneous white-pinkish hue; short white lines visible on polarized dermoscopy; some unspecific additional criteria, including milia-like cysts and ulceration. Pigmented FeP cases approach one-half of all reported cases and are characterized dermoscopically by gray-brown areas and gray-blue dots.
