ABSTRACT

Education is one of the most vital aspects of nation building. Teachers, as the main actors in education, have a strategic role in creating human resources that support the nation’s development. In the 21st century, teachers are challenged to have several qualifications, including leadership, digital literacy, communication, emotional intelligence, entrepreneurship, global citizenship, problem solving, and teamwork. Teachers are also required to be more responsive in the face of competitive global education. In the process of teaching and learning, in addition to having social competence, pedagogy, personality, and professionalism, the teacher must also be able to: teach the learning process, illustrate, demonstrate, and inspire students for their future life. To ensure the various qualifications required of teachers in the 21st century, the evaluation of the curriculum for teacher education is required. This paper will discuss the demands required of qualified professional teachers, which contribute to the development of the nation, and their relation to the evaluation of the curriculum for teacher education in the 21st century.
