ABSTRACT

As a developing country, Indonesia is facing problems regarding low lecturer performance. This study explored the effects of demographics on lecturer performance in higher-education institutions in Indonesia. A total of 347 usable questionnaires were obtained which was about a 46.3% rate of return. Descriptive statistics by cross-tabulation were employed to explore the demographic characteristics in detail, related to lecturer performance within universities. Regression analysis was employed to test the research hypothesis. This study shows that the effect of demographics varies when viewed from the level of awards and performance of lecturers The results are discussed and recommendations for the future are provided.
