ABSTRACT

Pusan clay is deposited along the Nakdong River Estuary (NRE) with different depositional environments. So far many soil investigation projects have been carried out across the NRE using both filed and laboratory tests. And also Pusan clays have been characterized using all available sophisticated methods. However, in this study, a special attempt has been made to check the homogeneity of Pusan clays in their geotechnical properties obtained from both field and laboratory tests. An attempt has also been made for zoning of the NRE based on geotechnical properties. As a result, it has been found that the Pusan clays are more homogeneous in their geotechnical properties. In addition to this, the global soil parameters of Pusan clays have been obtained for the whole NRE and these have been designated as reference soil parameters for the Pusan clay.
