ABSTRACT
Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease with destruction of melanocytes. As with the skin, the mucosa also exhibits pigmentation. Loss of normal pigmentation from the skin or the mucosa is a cause for psychological and social problems. Both skin and mucosa are affected in vitiligo.
