ABSTRACT

Childhood vitiligo is an acquired pigmentary autoimmune disorder caused by total destruction of melanocytes and clinically manifested by hypomelanosis of the skin and hair. Vitiligo is a cosmetically disfiguring disease associated with a great deal of stigma. Parents are very anxious and psychologically affected, as it affects the quality of life in children, especially teenagers. Childhood vitiligo differs from adult vitiligo as it has distinct epidemiological and clinical features and is strongly associated with family history and other autoimmune disorders.
