ABSTRACT

Vitiligo is a common pigmentary disorder with a worldwide prevalence of 0.5%–1%, characterized by depigmented macules and patches often associated with leukotrichia. In India, a wide range of prevalence (0.46%–8.8%) has been reported, with an average of 2.5%. The disease has a significant psychosocial burden and predominantly affects patients in the second and third decade. A familial predisposition has been noted.
