ABSTRACT

Ultrathin skin grafting (UTSG) is a special type of split thickness skin grafting in which the harvested skin graft is extremely thin and translucent (epidermal) and devoid of any dermal tissue. Depending upon the thickness of skin grafts, split thickness skin grafts can be divided into different types. The main advantage of UTSG is rapid onset of pigmentation, usually seen within a few weeks after the procedure. In addition, UTSG is the most cost-effective procedure.
