ABSTRACT

There is always a need for newer and more innovative techniques to treat vitiligo. McGovern et al. devised a new technique, called the flip-top transplantation (FTT) technique, for the treatment of vitiligo. This procedure has distinct advantages as can be performed with speed and ease, with minimal clinical scarring. It does not require special equipment or a laboratory to culture melanocytes, so it has the added advantage of low cost. In this technique, a flap of 6–8 mm containing epidermis with minimal papillary dermis is raised at the recipient site. The pieces of the graft from the donor site are placed juxtapositioning the dermis of the graft to the dermis of the recipient site.
