ABSTRACT

Hair follicle grafting in vitiligo causes repigmentation by perifollicular spread of melanocyte and stem cells from the implanted follicles. The hairs can be extracted by follicular unit transplant (FUT) or follicular unit excision (FUE) from the scalp or other hairy areas. It is an easy, safe, and effective method of bringing back pigment in vitiligo and depigmented scars, and is an effective method for treating localized/segmental vitiligo, especially on hairy parts of the skin, including the eyelids and eyebrows, and for small areas of vitiligo.
