ABSTRACT
This chapter deals with some general recommendations for policy, practice, and research. It utilizes 'state' as an umbrella term to refer to government entities on various hierarchical levels. The chapter discusses the key roles of residents, the state, third sector actors, and market or private sector actor. Private sector actors are important and sought-after partners for their ability to leverage private sector funding into the affordable housing sector. However, private sector funding comes at a price, and usually direct or indirect financial incentives are needed. The incentives to attract private sector funding are often time limited, so are the social requirements expected from private actors, for example to charge below market rents and allocated housing to specific target groups. Public and social housing organisations have traditionally played a prominent role in many social housing systems. The chapter also presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book.
