ABSTRACT

In vivo reflectance-mode confocal microscopy (RCM) allows for noninvasive imaging of epidermis and upper dermis at near-histologic resolution. RCM is particularly useful for evaluation of melanocytic neoplasms because melanin is a strong source of contrast for RCM images.1,2 Multiple studies, detailed below, have highlighted the potential of RCM to attain high sensitivity and specificity in differentiating melanoma from nevi.
