ABSTRACT
Although histopathology remains the current gold standard for the diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma (BCC), reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) represents an optimal imaging tool for noninvasive diagnosis and for the monitoring of nonsurgical therapy of BCC, such as photodynamic therapy (PDT), cryosurgery, imiquimod cream, and oral hedgehog inhibitors (HHIs).
