ABSTRACT
The importance of early life events in leading to adult diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is increasingly becoming realized. There are also many diseases that span the entire age range. This chapter focuses on the developmental aspects of disease in adult life, and in particular airway diseases, the consequences of prematurity, congenital thoracic malformations (CTM), and interstitial lung disease (ILD).
