ABSTRACT

The present chapter investigates the effect of type of profession on the occupational stress of working women. For this study, 270 working women have been taken from three different professions, that is, nursing, teaching, and office clerks from some eastern districts of Uttar Pradesh ranging between 30 and 45 years of age. The occupational stress scale (Singh and Srivastava, 1981) has been administered over the respondents to assess the level of their occupational stress. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed the significant difference in the mean of working women belonging to nursing, office clerk, and teaching professions. Nursing women were found to be more stressed towards their job then followed by office clerks and teachers.
