ABSTRACT

The size and scale of change in business environment have been unprecedented in the recent past. Globalization and liberalization have increased competition. Technology has permeated every sphere of business

work and fostered new business models. The nature of workforce and the work itself is changing. Organizations can no longer remain static in this dynamic environment. The organizations should be able to access requisite resources easily and promptly to harness advantages offered by the marketplace. The knowledge and skills of the workforce need to be in tandem with the requirements of the business. The only course that would lead to sustainable growth is to make the organization capable of learning. Employee learning has become a continuous process in the work environment. The organization itself needs to be able to change its form and structure in a short duration of time. This paper builds upon the knowledge-based view of the organization leading to learning and innovation. It explores the critical role of HR in organizations for the future to build capability for generation and implementation of innovative business models. Literature was reviewed and round table and focus group discussions were conducted to arrive at practical implications.
