ABSTRACT
The implementation of SDM in breast cancer and breast reconstruction is essential in the modern era, as we have several treatments and options for the same cancer stage, so a personalised treatment should be achieved. A proposed decision aid in breast reconstruction when the patient is having difficulty understanding treatment options is to consider the use of images; the use of a 3D image of the patient. Software that offers 3D visualisation should be considered a decision aid for SDM. The surgeon can insert any implant that they and the patient choose from a full range of available prostheses from a range of manufacturers and also simulate movement as part of 5D modelling. However, physicians have stated that, with adequate training and practice, and following the software best practices, it may save time during consultation, and it has been shown and published that, when realistic simulations are created, patients' satisfaction rates are higher than standard.
