Postharvest Education, Training and Capacity Building for Reducing Losses in Plant-Based Food Crops

Literature reviews conducted in 2009–2010 resulted in very little information on the topics of postharvest education, extension, training and capacity building, but since that time many new organizations have been formed to address the problems and issues involved in reducing food losses. This chapter provides an overview of the education/extension and capacity building activities being undertaken in the broad field of ‘postharvest loss assessment and loss reduction’ during the period of 2010–2017 and highlights achievements, current and planned activities in postharvest loss assessment, training and extension, postharvest innovation systems, special events and conferences.
