ABSTRACT

This paper addresses how food preparation practices can help create a design model embracing social changes. The study involved pattern-language method, cross-fertilization, and sustainability. It intends to identify how it is possible to develop a self-sustainable habitat for food preparation as something that takes place in the city in a modern way and not isolated. On the one hand, by exploring an alliance between industry and design aimed at reinventing the local industry. On the other hand, by creating a catalyst system, interpreting the impact of liquid reality. The authors present a pilot project developed by master’s design students and companies. The outcome of this study may be used as reference for local industry and design practice development. The paper highlights the value of the combination between industry and design as a mutual learning method. Both parties exchange knowledge, enhancing professional competences, proposing different meanings and creating new market opportunities in order to achieve changes in reality.
