ABSTRACT

Arugula is native to Israel. However, N. I. Vavilov considered the northwest regions of India, Tadzhikistan, Uzbekistan, West Tien Shan province and Southwest Asia the centres of origin and temperate regions around the world, including Northern Europe and North America the secondary centre of origin. Arugula, also known as garden rocket, rocket salad, taramira, roquette, rugula, or rucola, is one of the most nutritious green-leafy vegetables. Arugula, also known as garden rocket, rocket salad, taramira, roquette, rugula, or rucola, is one of the most nutritious green-leafy vegetables. The greens yield of arugula depends on several factors such as variety, soil type, soil fertility, growing season, irrigation facilities and crop management. The flea beetle attacks the leaves of arugula. The affected leaves become peppered with small holes and the damaged areas turn brown. The seed rate undoubtedly varies with soil fertility, germination percentage, irrigation facilities and climatic conditions of the growing region.
