ABSTRACT

Pesticide residue analysis (PRA) is very important to protect consumer health and regulate international trade of food commodities. To ensure the safety of consumers, numerous regulations on authorized products, maximum residue limits (MRLs), and analytical method guidelines have been set up. The quadrupole linear ion trap (QqLIT) mass analyzer is an improvement of the tridimensional ion trap analyzer. It works on the limitations of the latter, which are poor resolution, mass shift, and narrow dynamic range, among others. Nontarget pesticide identification is made possible by the fact that the instrument records accurate full-scan spectrum. The Orbitrap mass analyzer, which was introduced around 2000, is an abbreviation for orbital trapping. The Orbitrap mass analyzer can exist as a standalone, which is the most common in quantification and identification of pesticides in food. Sensitivity is defined as the signal of an analyte versus its concentration.
