ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights the recent advance of graphene based nanocomposites in electrochemical sensing of drug molecules. It provides an overview of graphene and graphene based nanocomposites and focuses on the fabrications of graphene based nanocomposites as well as their uses in electrode surface modification. Solution mixing has been used as one of the most common methods for preparing graphene–polymer nanocomposites and has resulted in improved properties for electrical conductivity, thermal and chemical stability. In situ polymerization is a popular method to synthesize graphene–polymer nanocomposites. Graphene–noble metal nanoparticles nanocomposites made by chemical reduction can be mediated with the addition of polyelectrolytes into the fabrication procedure. Many graphene based nanocomposites modified working electrodes have been developed and used in different ways for electrochemical measurements. The chapter presents a comprehensive insight on the fabrications of graphene based nanocomposites and their application in electrochemical sensing of drug molecules.
