ABSTRACT

When considering the wealth of materials that would be appropriate for informational and support programs, it is useful to bring to mind the multiple goals of recovery from processed food addiction (PFA). PFA is a relatively young concept, no research has been conducted in the efficacies of treatment. However, practitioners in the fields of dietetic and counseling as well as 12-step groups, have been practicing recovery from PFA since the 1980s, using the tools of abstinence from processed foods and healing of emotional distress. Many topics are appropriate for the section on building a healthy lifestyle. Clients may be dealing with novelties on many fronts. Clients may not have ever experienced physical health. Even while clients are being introduced to orientation material, they can begin to be exposed to more general topics related to a healthy lifestyle. As part of the outreach component of a practice, health professionals may want to set up a conference call facility through a website.
