ABSTRACT

Optics is a powerful tool for measurements because of its diverse and precise nature. This subject would require several chapters to describe all optical methods. Most modern measurements are described in this chapter. It is devoted only to measurements by optical means and for optical applications. Special focus is given to optical laboratory measurement methods. Optical distance measurements are done by diverse means using light to measure or to use for optical application. Methods derived from distance measurements, curvature, focal length, and thickness are described. Other considered variables are angle, level, velocimetry, and vibration.
