ABSTRACT

The assessment of sensitive skin can be helped by many sensory testing methods, from a stinging test with lactic acid and other tests to the evaluation of itching or thermal sensation test (QST). Correlations with the dry skin type, higher age, female gender, fair phototypes, and the Dermatology Quality of Life Index (DLQI) were found. DLQI evaluates the quality of life in patients with skin disorders. Among localizations of sensitive skin, the scalp is more and more well known. The sensitive scales for the self-assessment of sensitive skin are very useful for a self-diagnosis and also for the evaluation of the severity of skin sensitivity and the effects of treatments of skin sensitivity. Sensitive scalp was sometimes associated with some scalp diseases. Dandruff cannot be considered as a symptom of sensitive scalp. The 3S questionnaire is a convenient and effective tool for investigating the severity and symptomatology of the sensitive scalp.
