ABSTRACT

In this paper the selection of geomechanical parameters for the analysis of tied-back wall behavior under the influence of static loads is discussed. For this purpose the observed behavior of a model anchored wall in the laboratory and a field anchored wall are compared with the findings of the numerical analyses. For numerical analysis the finite element method is used, the soil medium is modelled as a nonlinear elasto-plastic material and interface elements are used for modelling the soil-anchor interfaces. In numerical modelling the construction stages are taken into account. For the laboratory model the geomechanical parameters are obtained from triaxial tets results, whereas for the field anchored wall they are estimated from CPT test results.
