An A-type prediction for a deep excavation near an existing navigable lock

Construction of a new Uelzen II Lock is planned at a location 70 m distant from the existing Uelzen I Lock. The new construction will require a 18 m deep, 53 m wide and 263 m long pit. An FE-model, which will be constantly calibrated with geotechnical measurements, will be deployed during the construction phase to insure that the existing lock system remains functional
