ABSTRACT

Brachiopods from Bonanza Creek in the eastern Alaska Range of south-central Alaska had previously been considered to include pentamerid brachiopods of Devonian age. Re-investigation of this material indicates that these are rhynchonellids belonging to the enigmatic Early Cretaceous genus Peregrinella, and are here described as Peregrinella chisania n. sp., marking the first record of this genus from the Wrangellia Terrane, Alaska This supports more recent age-designations for the Chisana Formation, based on Early Cretaceous Buchia and Inoceramus bivalves.
