ABSTRACT
Trivial names, such as “Androstane” In Figure 2, are therefore useful in small files and in indexes for representing complex structures with ex tensive stereochemistry. However, it would be impracticable to use only trivial names in indexes because that would require including, say, six million structure diagrams to define six million names in order to reduce the demands on the human memory.
