ABSTRACT
Fundamental to a knowledge of the potential botulism hazard from any food is a knowledge of the possibility of contamination of the food with Clostridium botulinum. This contamination depends largely on the distribution and incidence of C. botulinum in the environment. The serious nature of botulism has led many investigators worldwide to conduct surveys to establish the presence or absence of C. botulinum in different environments.
