ABSTRACT

This chapter strongly recommends references for readers with interests in theory as well as practical design information for fuzzy control systems. It discusses that the emphasis that is on specific components of FDCL that are important for understanding the design and performance of fuzzy control systems for food processes. Fuzzy logic is one of the cornerstones of soft computing, a term which Zadeh uses to describe methodologies that "aim to exploit the tolerance for imprecision and uncertainty to achieve tractability, robustness and low-solution cost". The control literature, both academic research and popular press, contains many articles, conference proceedings, and books dealing with fuzzy control for a wide range of applications.
