It is not only the efficiency or the measure of efficiency of production but also the relation to rational business goals. The productivity can be likened to an onion with many skins. The core may have strict single input labor units. The basic concept of productivity is a ratio which relates some volume of output to some volume of input. It measures the use of resources or the degree of their use.
