ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Matka dam is the oldest dam in Macedonia constructed in 1938. The height of this arch dam is 38 meters. There are ten zones of 3,0m height and the width of each zone is 1,6 m in the lower and 1,0 m in the upper part. The upstream face of the dam has a bitumen layer isolation with a layer of cement and grid reinforcement. During 1990 reconstruction of the sealing layer only on the two upper zones was performed. The present condition of a sealing demands a total reconstruction. The hydroisolation of the upstream face will be performed with system of synthetic geocomposite.
