Problems of rehabilitation of some failures of earth and rockfill dams in Slovakia

ABSTRACT: The beginning of dam construction in Slovakia dates back to 16th century. At present, there are more than 300 dams in Slovakia. The earthfill and rockfill dams represent prevailing dam types. The paper deals with selected reasons of failures and anomalies, typical for the earthfill and rockfill dams and for the dykes of reservoirs, situated in the lowland regions.
